One of the main things I led was the branding and design of Sharedspace. The personality of Sharedspace is happy, friendly, caring and sharing. We like to keep things simple and clean. We talk in a way that anyone can understand. We help kiwis share great spaces in New Zealand, we care about our people and our environment.
It was incredibly enjoyable and satisfying to be able to take ownership of Sharedspace's brand – it allowed the team to experiment with a wide range of digital marketing channels – from social media to SEO optimisation, from viral YouTube videos to email marketing campaigns. I learnt how to apply lean design thinking to the digital marketing experience, and we succeeded in doubling Sharedspace's annual revenue every year for four consecutive years.
Furthermore, I was also in charge of the overall design of Sharedspace, both in desktop and mobile versions. Being able to design the Sharedspace user experience end-to-end, taught me how to synergise all of our digital and marketing channels with the goal of user acquisition and conversion. I learnt about data metrics and how to connect the insights of data analytics with the power of user-centric design. This was one of my most important work experiences as it taught me to think and act like a business owner.
